Define the scope first
Connect audit reports, financial statements and their notes, financial products and investment materials while preserving periods, terminology and numerical relationships.
Tell us the target language, purpose, receiving audience and desired timing. Related files for the same matter can share a contact, spellings, terminology and delivery plan; main text, attachments and supplementary records are checked separately.
Placing statement figures within their reporting narrative
Financial translation goes beyond account labels. Headers, reporting bases, notes and management explanations determine how figures are understood and should remain connected.
Headers and comparative bases
Check the entity, date, period and scale for each table, separating current, prior and restated comparatives. Do not interchange blanks, zero, not-applicable markers and bracketed negatives. Retain table-specific scales instead of silently converting figures for visual consistency.
Accounts, notes and explanations
Trace account labels to notes, detailed tables and explanations, distinguishing balances, period activity and movements. Preserve the wording of policy or estimate changes rather than hide special definitions under generic labels. Refer conflicting statement and note figures to finance reviewers with locations.
Consolidated and separate reporting
Label consolidated, parent-only and subsidiary materials distinctly, retaining stated scope and period changes. Use terms for intragroup transactions, eliminations and non-controlling interests as supported by the source without inferring accounting treatment. Group presentation figures must not replace separate-entity data.
Enabling item-by-item financial review
Organize narrative, statements, notes and presentations with stable table and location references so finance owners can review wording and numerical correspondence.
Terminology and measure definitions
Distinguish statement accounts, management-defined measures and presentation abbreviations, retaining definitions and sources. Prior-year translations are references, but changes in classification, policy or business scope need confirmation. Historical wording should not override a measure’s changed meaning.
Table handoff and numerical queries
For Excel or Word tables, agree which text cells are in scope and whether formulas must remain intact. Cite rows, columns and source totals in numerical queries and change them only after confirmation. Relayout checks should include notes, repeated headers and units as well as text fit.
Annual updates and audit draft status
Use the complete new annual report to check accounts, note numbers and comparatives rather than merely change dates. Track audit drafts, issued reports and management explanations separately. State source versions and open queries without presenting language review as a new audit or validation of figures.

Confirm legal entity names, reporting periods, currencies, units and document versions.
Investment
Check relationships between statements, notes, transaction terms and tables without altering source values.
Banking
Accounting and financial judgments remain with the relevant specialists; source uncertainties are raised for confirmation.
Translation and review priorities
- Confirm legal entity names, reporting periods, currencies, units and document versions.
- Check relationships between statements, notes, transaction terms and tables without altering source values.
- Accounting and financial judgments remain with the relevant specialists; source uncertainties are raised for confirmation.
Delivery, price and timing
Price and timing are assessed against language direction, word or page volume, subject matter, source clarity, editability, layout, review and supporting requirements. Changes to the source, languages or supporting work require a revised scope and plan.
Agree Word, PDF, Excel, subtitle or other formats, including any editable files, paper copies, statements or signatures actually needed. Supporting arrangements are defined for the particular purpose and receiving requirements.
A clear process at every stage
- 01
Define the purpose
Specify files, languages, volume, receiving requirements and timing.
- 02
Agree the plan
Confirm scope, references, review responsibilities, supporting work and delivery.
- 03
Translate and review
Use subject references and check terms, numbers, tables and versions.
- 04
Deliver and coordinate
Deliver the agreed files, consolidate feedback and confirm later updates.
What should I prepare?
Provide a clear, complete source and relevant references. Include approved translations, required terms or name spellings where available. Share special receiving formats, statement or signature requirements and other supporting needs for individual confirmation.

Will an incorrect table total be corrected?
Flag visible discrepancies with the total and components for finance confirmation. Do not alter source figures to force agreement. Apply a corrected source or explicit change instruction with a revision record so source and translation remain traceable.
Must all amounts be converted to US dollars in English?
English does not require a change of currency or scale. Preserve source conversions. Any additional reference conversion needs client-confirmed currency, rate source, date and purpose, clearly separated from the formal translation so it is not mistaken for an original statement figure.
Can the prior-year English annual report be reused?
Use it as a terminology and style reference after comparing business, policy and account changes. Repeated passages still need checks for dates, entities, figures and references. Track new or removed notes; replacing amounts and dates alone does not complete the new report.
